George Paz, a member of Prudential's Board of Directors for six years, serving on the Audit and Finance committees, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday night. He was 67.

"I, along with the other members of Prudential's Board of Directors and Executive Leadership Team, are deeply saddened at the news of George's passing. With his vast business experience, he brought a unique perspective to the Board that shaped our thinking on a multitude of issues," says Chairman and CEO Charlie Lowrey. "On behalf of everyone at Prudential, I extend condolences to George's entire family. He will be greatly missed."

The grandson of Mexican immigrants, Paz served as chairman and CEO of Express Scripts Holding Company, a prescription benefit management company, from 2006 to 2016. A graduate of the University of Missouri, St. Louis, Paz was previously a partner at Coopers & Lybrand and served as executive vice president and chief financial officer of Life Partners Group.

Paz was also known for his philanthropic work, especially supporting education. He served as: vice chairman of the board of directors of the Logos School, an independent, private high school in St. Louis that specializes in behavioral therapy for adolescents; a trustee of St. Louis University; a member of the board of directors of the St. Louis Winter Opera; and an advisory board member of the St. Louis Police Foundation.
