Nov 27 (Reuters) - Military vehicles maker Oshkosh has received a $342 million contract for producing medium equipment trailer (MET) vehicles from the U.S. Army, the company said on Monday.

Oshkosh will partner with Dutch trailer maker Broshuis B.V. to produce about 557 trailers over a period of five years, with an option to extend the contract for two more years, it added.

The MET is a six axle trailer used to transport heavy machinery and equipment like fuel tanks, military logistics and artillery across difficult landscapes.

The first trailers are set to be delivered in May 2024 to support operational testing. (Reporting by Abhinav Parmar in Bengaluru; Editing by Shailesh Kuber)
