Orlen S.A. has launched its first publicly accessible hydrogen station in Poznan, where cars, trucks and buses can be refuelled. It was reported that the Poznan station is part of the Clean Cities project, co-financed by EU funds under the CEF instrument and national funds from the 'Green Public Transport' programme. It was indicated that the station will power a fleet of 25 buses owned by the municipal transport company MPK in Poznan.

Over 15 years, Orlen will supply 1.8 million kilograms of hydrogen fuel for this purpose. It was reported that the facility operates around the clock and is open to the public, meaning that not only MPK Poznan buses, but also all users of hydrogen-fuelled vehicles can take advantage of the refuelling opportunity. By 2030, the Orlen group plans to build a network of more than 100 hydrogen refuelling stations for individual, public and cargo transport, road and rail in Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

Hydrogen will be supplied to them through the construction of a European network of hydrogen hubs, powered by renewable energy sources, and innovative installations converting municipal waste into zero- and low-emission hydrogen.
