REDWOOD SHORES, Calif., Jan. 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --

News Facts

-- The State of North Carolina Department of Revenue recently selected Oracle(R) Enterprise Taxation Management as a key component of its Vision 2010 plan to increase efficiency and effectiveness of its internal operations while also improving taxpayer service. The department will work with CGI and Oracle to implement the single, integrated tax solution built on a modern technology architecture.

-- Oracle Enterprise Taxation Management will replace the department's antiquated, costly-to-maintain legacy tax solution with a modern, service-oriented architecture (SOA)-based solution that is expected to help reduce the Department of Revenue's ongoing maintenance and integration costs, as well as enable it to more efficiently and effectively respond to changes in tax law and policy.

-- The department expects the new solution to enable faster, more effective resolution of taxpayer service inquiries and faster processing of transactions such as refund issuances through enhanced automation and Oracle Enterprise Taxation Management's built-in customer relationship management (CRM) capabilities. In addition, the solution's flexible system interoperability and SOA architecture will enable the Department of Revenue to provide superior information to taxpayers and other North Carolina state agencies while also facilitating revenue generation through integration with external applications such as reporting, analytic and discovery toolsets from SAS and Revenue Solutions Inc. (RSI).

-- Oracle Enterprise Taxation Management will also allow the department to leverage existing investments in Web portals, reporting and document management as it rolls out the new application.

-- The State of North Carolina Department of Revenue will run Oracle Enterprise Taxation Management on Oracle Database and will also leverage the statewide NCID solution based on the Oracle Identity and Access Management Suite to provide a highly secure data and user authentication infrastructure.
