Nokia has announced that Chorus, New Zealand's largest Internet infrastructure provider, and 2Degrees, the leading retail services provider, have activated the 25G PON solution in a live commercial network.

New Zealand Cherry Corp will be the first customer to use this technology to enhance its farming methods with high-speed, low-latency and reliable connectivity. This breakthrough will enable real-time data processing and significantly increase the cherry harvest.

25G PON is touted as a key technology for Industry 4.0 and smart farming applications, offering productivity gains and energy savings.

Chorus will thus be able to rapidly improve fiber network capacity and enable providers like 2Degrees to offer faster, more efficient services.
