Netflix has announced an increase in the prices of their subscriptions in Belgium. This is a price increase of 1 to 2 euros per month, depending on the type of subscription.

The new prices go into effect immediately for new customers, while existing customers will receive an email with the details of the price increase and the date it takes effect.

The price increase is the first in Belgium since the end of 2021. According to Netflix, the increase is necessary to continue investing in new series, programs and movies. Customers who want to cancel their subscriptions can do so free of charge.

Types of subscriptions

  • Basic: €9.99 per month (was €8.99).
    • Allows you to watch on one screen at a time in HD.
  • Standard: €15.99 per month (was €13.99).
    • Allows you to watch on two screens at once in Full HD.
  • Premium: €19.99 per month (was €17.99).
    • Allows you to watch on four screens simultaneously in Ultra HD and with spatial audio.

Standard and Premium Netflix subscribers have the option to add additional members for €3.99 per month. This feature was introduced when Netflix began to monitor password sharing more strictly.

  • Standard: You can add one additional member.
  • Premium: You can add two additional members.

Advertising?

For now, Netflix still does not have a subscription with advertising in Belgium. That Standard with Ads subscription was introduced in several countries a year and a half ago. With it, users have the option of taking a cheaper subscription where they do see regular advertising. In countries with such an advertising subscription, the streaming service is in the process of abolishing the Basic subscription.
