Gas Natural Andalucía, the energy multinational's distribution subsidiary, invested 34.6 million euros in Andalusia during the last financial year.

  • With 388,000 supply points in a network of over 4,700 km in that Spanish region, the company plans to invest close to 10 million euros in the Seville province in 2013.

Gas Natural Andalucía, GAS NATURAL FENOSA's distributor in that region of Spain, is to invest nearly 39 million euros in 2013 to continue with its gas-infrastructure expansion and development plan in strategic areas.

Notable areas where the distribution network is to be developed include the Costa del Sol, the municipalities connected to the gas pipeline joining Huelva and Ayamonte, the Seville metropolitan area and areas in the centre of Andalusia connected to the Lucena-Cabra-Baena axis. Gas Natural Andalucía will also continue its expansion in the Granada province and in the Almeria municipalities of Roquetas de Mar and El Ejido.

The gas company's plan to expand its distribution network is backed by Andalusia's regional and local governments. Andalusia's growing incorporation of natural gas is extremely important if it is to meet its goals under the Andalusia Energy Sustainability Plan (PASENER) drawn up and implemented by the regional government of Andalusia.

Last year marked the 25th anniversary of the energy company's work in Andalusia and service to the region's citizens. The anniversary's commemorative event was presided over by the Regional Minister for Economy, Innovation, Science and Employment, Antonio Ávila, and the Chairman of GAS NATURAL FENOSA, Salvador Gabarró.

A year of growth

The company invested over 34.5 million euros during the last financial year and serves 88 municipalities in the region, through a distribution network that covers over 4,700 km.

Gas Natural Andalucía started supplying natural gas to the domestic-commercial market in the towns of Isla Cristina (Huelva), Umbrete, La Algaba and Carmona (Seville) and Baena and Cabra (Cordova) in 2012.
