Microsoft has announced a $1 billion investment in Kenya, in partnership with AI specialist G42, as part of an initiative by the Kenyan Ministry of Information, Communications and Digital Economy.

The investment is to enable the construction of a state-of-the-art green data center and four other pillars such as the development of AI models in local languages and digital AI skills training.

A letter of intent will be signed during Kenyan President William Ruto's state visit to the US this weekend.
