Jan 4 (Reuters) - British sportswear retailer JD Sports Fashion lowered its annual profit forecast on Thursday, hurt by a slowdown in consumer spending and tepid demand for apparel amid mild weather conditions.

The company now expects profit before tax and adjusted items to be between 915 million pounds and 935 million pounds for the year ending Feb. 3.

It had earlier forecast profit to be in line with market expectations of 1.04 billion pounds ($1.32 billion). ($1 = 0.7886 pounds) (Reporting by Eva Mathews in Bengaluru; Editing by Savio D'Souza)
