(Alliance News) - Iren Spa let it be known on Thursday that on May 23 the auction for the Small and Medium Enterprises Gradual Protection Service was held, which saw Iren Mercato awarded three lots effective July 1 relating to the regions of Tuscany and Calabria lot 1, Piedmont and Emilia-Romagna lot 4 and Puglia, Abruzzo, Basilicata, Molise, Umbria, Sicily lot 7 for a total of 38,000 points, a total volume of more than 500 Million Kwh/year and an estimated turnover of about EUR200 million per year.

The successful award goes in continuity on Tuscany and Puglia, entrusted in the previous SME '21-'24 auction, and complements the positioning on Emilia-Romagna and Piedmont, key regions for the group's activities: with this operation Iren's presence in the southern regions is further strengthened after the positive result in the auctions also on the retail segment, the company points out in a note.

The Gradual Protection Service is the service set up by Arera to accompany the transition to the free electricity market after the removal of price protection.

"This result, in line with the development objectives set out in the business plan, confirms the Iren group's desire to be a strategic energy player in the Small and Medium Enterprise segment by guaranteeing businesses increasingly integrated solutions with the aim of accompanying customers in the energy transition," reads the Iren statement.

Iren's stock closed Thursday up 0.2 percent at EUR1.95 per share.
