(Clarifies in headline that this is the completion of the acquisition)

MUNICH (dpa-AFX) - Munich-based chipmaker Infineon has completed its acquisition of Canada's Gan Systems. Both companies had announced the purchase at a price of $830 million (781.6 million euros) back in March. Gan Systems is a manufacturer of high-performance semiconductor elements made of gallium nitride.

The Ottawa-based company brings a broad portfolio of power conversion solutions and world-class applications expertise in power semiconductors, the statement added. All necessary regulatory approvals have been granted, it said.

The Gan technology paves the way for even more efficient and thus CO2-saving solutions, said Jochen Hanebeck, CEO of Infineon./dm/DP/ngu/he
