Update on Operations of Spectacle Lens Facilities in
Thailand

Hoya Corporation today announced details on the recovery of
the HOYA Lens Thailand Ayutthaya plant that has been
suspended since October 12, 2011. Water has been removed
from the facility, and based on delivery schedules from
machine suppliers and other critical partners, Hoya Vision
Care expects to partially resume production of prescription
lenses in Ayutthaya no later than April 1st.
Hoya also announced that Hoya lens Thailand Pathumthani
Plant, which resumed operation on November 21, has returned
to normal operation since December 2011.
"Our top priorities have been to ensure the safety of our
employees in Thailand, and to minimize any impacts to our
customers," said Gerald Bottero, President of Hoya Vision
Care. "Since the flood we have promptly initiated capital
expenditures to restore Ayutthaya and increase local
prescription lens capacities. We sincerely thank our
Associates in all parts of the world who have worked
tirelessly and sacrificed many nights and weekends to
compensate for the temporary loss of capacity in
Thailand."
Hoya Group's other factories in Thailand have no direct
damage from the flood.
Hoya is now investigating the effects of the flood and will
address promptly in case a significant financial impact is
anticipated on the group's consolidated financial
results.
