On Tuesday, Getlink reported stable truck shuttle traffic last month compared with the same period last year, bringing its decline over the first five months of the year to 3%.

Between January and May, 504,209 heavy goods vehicles crossed the Channel on its shuttles, compared with 522,042 in the corresponding period of 2023.

For cars, passenger shuttle traffic was up 2% on May 2023, but down 6% year-to-date on the same period last year.

'LeShuttle' carried 196.813 passenger vehicles including motorcycles, campers and coaches, compared with 193,609 a year earlier.

Some 751,000 passenger vehicles have been transported since January 1, compared with 795,719 in May 2023.
