Eiffage, through its subsidiary Eiffage Energie Systemes (agent), SPIE Nucleaire and ABC have just signed the contract with EDF for the supply and installation of the main diesel emergency generator sets for six EPR2 type nuclear reactor projects.

The value of the contract is more than 900 million euros.

This contract includes the studies, qualification, manufacturing, installation, testing and commissioning of 24 10 MWe diesel emergency generator sets, for the project of six EPR2 units grouped in pairs on three sites (Penly, Gravelines and Bugey). Each unit will integrate four emergency generators (three main and one maintenance), their electromechanical auxiliaries as well as the ventilation systems of the group halls and the fire extinguishing systems.

The project developed by the group takes into account the objectives of standardization and replication of equipment desired by EDF for the new French nuclear program.

The study phase will start this year. The implementation of the project, over a forecast duration of 17 years, will require the mobilization of nearly 350 people for each of the three projects at the peak of activity, and will generate 80,000 hours reserved for professional integration and employment of people with disabilities.

After winning the civil engineering works for the first two EPR2 type reactors at Penly in November 2023, this new contract demonstrates Eiffage's capacity to carry out major projects which are part of a process of decarbonization and energy sovereignty for the France.

ABC is the engine manufacturer and supplies the beam with chassis and alternator, and its subsidiary OMTD is in charge of the installation and on-site testing. ABC had already previously supplied EDF with the ultimate emergency diesel units on units 900 and N4.

SPIE Nucleaire is proud to support the renewal of French low-carbon electricity production capacities. As part of this contract, SPIE will provide all its expertise in the areas of ventilation systems, piping and fire systems.
