Civmec Limited announced its foray into the defence sector with the launch of a new division, which has set its sights on building Australia's new submarines.

The company has appointed a former Royal Australian Navy Commodore, Mr. Mike Deeks CSC, as General Manager ­ Defence, to head the unit.
