CGI on Thursday said it has agreed to buy information technology provider Celero's credit union business serving clients across Canada.

Credit Union Central of Manitoba, Credit Union Central of Saskatchewan and Credit Union Central of Alberta under a definitive agreement with CGI will sell Celero's services and business, which includes core banking, digital banking, managed services and security operations.

A purchase price for the agreement wasn't disclosed.

The move will expand the banking services CGI provides to credit unions, adding a business with more than 90 credit unions. It also will create partnerships with CUCM, SaskCentral and Alberta Central, CGI said.

The Canadian IT and business consulting services company said it will bring on board more than 150 Celero employees.
