Stara Zagora, 12 January 2023 - Bulgarian Stock Exchange and Stara Zagora Municipality signed a cooperation agreement and henceforth will actively collaborate in attracting potential investors to the region and supporting the companies interested in going public on the markets organised by Bulgarian Stock Exchange (BSE).
It is a first-of-a-kind agreement between the Exchange and a municipality in Bulgaria.

"Stara Zagora Municipality found in BSE a reliable partner in the mission we share, to develop the capital markets in Bulgaria and promote the opportunities provided by the stock exchange financing to the companies from the city and the region. This partnership is a crucial step towards many educational and practical initiatives that will help investors from all over Bulgaria learn more about promising companies from Stara Zagora. We also open a direct channel of communication with BSE representatives for the companies looking for financing so they can freely discuss various capital raising opportunities.", stated Assoc. Prof. Dr Manyu Moravenov, BSE Executive Director.

His words also made it clear that Stara Zagora was not chosen as a pilot municipality by chance. The indicators that the business monitors are extremely good here, as it has even surpassed Burgas in GDP growth.

"We are happy to announce our partnership with BSE and to start working together on the planned initiatives, which will undoubtedly benefit businesses in Stara Zagora. I believe Stara Zagora will take its well-deserved pioneer place as a preferred investment destination in Bulgaria.", said Zhivko Todorov, Mayor of Stara Zagora.
"Currently, we have an almost fully occupied modern industrial zone - "Zagore", and we are actively working on the acquisition of the airport plot because we need large prospective areas to meet the needs of the investors. Stara Zagora has indisputable advantages not only because of our favourable geographical location. We have low basic taxes and fees - 1.45 per mill is due for building tax, for comparison in Burgas - 1.75, and in the Capital Municipality - 1.875. Citizens also owe a smaller garbage fee - from 0.4 to 4 per cent, and for businesses, our rates are the most profitable, because the source of income is large, and the saved funds can be used for other purposes. Our support is actual and working. We also keep low tax rates for property acquisition and donations. Our public transport is also competitively priced and has a number of benefits for the people.", added Mayor Todorov.

As part of the agreement, BSE and the Municipality of Stara Zagora plan to organise and conduct this year joint specialised training, round tables, conferences and other events answering the needs of the practice.
