Water Service Update for Customers in Owen County

Boil Water Advisory Lifted for Portions of Owen County

Lexington, KY., (January 13, 2014) - 10:35 AM The Kentucky Division of Water has lifted a boil water advisory for customers in a large portion of Owen County as of 10:35 AM.
The boil water advisory has been lifted for Owen County customers south of and including Progress Way and south of and including the Owen County Fairgrounds. This includes all customers in the city of Owenton and all portions of Owen County south of Owenton, including Owen County public schools. Water sample testing for this portion of our service area has confirmed that there is no contamination. The water is safe to drink, and customers no longer need to take the precautionary step of boiling their water prior to consumption.
The boil water advisory remains in place for all customers north of Progress Way and the Owen County Fairgrounds. Customers in this portion of Owen County should continue to boil for 3 minutes any tap water to be used for consumption, such as for drinking or cooking.
