Accenture Named to FORTUNE'S "100 Best Companies to Work For" List for Fifth Consecutive Year

NEW YORK; Jan. 17, 2013 - Accenture (NYSE:ACN) has been named to FORTUNE magazine's 2013 "100 Best Companies to Work For" list for the fifth consecutive year, ranking No. 91, up from No. 92 in 2012. The annual ranking, now in its 16th year, is a prestigious recognition of the best in workplace culture and talent initiatives.

"We believe in empowering our people to discover their talents and challenge themselves with interesting work and specialized training opportunities," said Michael Scimo, Managing Director - Human Capital & Diversity, North America. "Our people are key to Accenture's success and we're honored to be recognized once again by FORTUNE as an employer of choice."

In recognizing Accenture, FORTUNE cited the company's extensive training as a career springboard for new employees and its more than 52 hours of average employee training a year. Among the many programs and initiatives Accenture provides its employees are:

  • Training & Development: Accenture provides training throughout each employee's career-in classrooms, online, in teams and via mobile learning - and employees can choose courses tailored to their individual skills, experience and areas of interest. For example, myLearning, Accenture's global online learning portal, offers more than 30,000 courses from core training to specialized functional and technical training. In fiscal 2012, Accenture invested more than $850 million in employee training and professional development.
  • Inclusion & Diversity: Accenture takes the widest possible view of inclusion and diversity. Ten U.S. employee resource groups provide opportunities for individuals who share common interests to network and achieve collaborative goals with a business purpose. In March 2012, Accenture introduced a global women's theme - Defining success. Your way. - to create meaningful mentoring programs, celebrations and networking opportunities to support the success of our more than 80,000 women around the globe.
  • Corporate Citizenship: Accenture's people are serious about giving back and the company supports their energy, enthusiasm and passion to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. Skills to Succeed, the company's corporate citizenship initiative, inspires its people and gives them the opportunity to make a measured and sustained impact in communities around the world. Accenture's new global online volunteering tool, myCorporateCitizenship, makes it easier than ever for its people to contribute to the Skills to Succeed goal of equipping 250,000 people with the skills to get a job or build a business.

To pick the 100 Best Companies to Work For, FORTUNE partners with the Great Place to Work Institute to conduct the most extensive employee survey in corporate America; 259 firms participated in this year's survey. More than 277,000 employees at those companies responded to a survey created by the institute, a global research and consulting firm operating in 45 countries around the world. Two-thirds of a company's score is based on the results of the institute's Trust Index survey, which is sent to a random sample of employees from each company. The survey asks questions related to their attitudes about management's credibility, job satisfaction, and camaraderie. The other third is based on responses to the institute's Culture Audit, which includes detailed questions about pay and benefit programs and a series of open-ended questions about hiring practices, methods of internal communication, training, recognition programs, and diversity efforts.
