SÃO PAULO--Brazil recorded a current-account deficit of $10.9 billion in December, compared with $60 million in November, the central bank said Thursday.

The 12-month current-account deficit reached $55.7 billion in December, compared with $52.4 billion reported through to the previous month, the central bank said.

The 12-month current-account deficit was equal to 2.92% of gross domestic product, versus 2.78% reported through to the previous month.

Net foreign direct investment reached $5.6 billion in December, down from $8.3 billion in November, the central bank said.

Foreign direct investment reached $90.6 billion for the 12 months through December, up from $77.1 billion for the 12 months through November.
