FREDERICTON (GNB) - The provincial government and the New Brunswick Union of Public and Private Employees have signed a new collective agreement for a group of about 425 employees.

The group includes mostly engineering technicians.

Human Resources Minister Denis Landry and union officials participated in the signing ceremony today.

'I thank the two negotiating teams for reaching this agreement,' said Landry. 'This illustrates our commitment to ensuring that the government treats its employees with fairness by respecting the collective bargaining process.'

The five-year and three-month agreement includes annual wage increases of one per cent and an adjustment tied to the discontinuance of the retirement allowance benefit.
