HUNDREDS OF TAXIS TO GRIND CENTRAL LONDON TO A HALT IN MASS PROTEST

GMB, ITA and LCDC are concerned about a lack of action when it comes to dealing with matters by TFL.

Hundreds of taxis are expected to grind parts of central London to halt in a GMB protest against Transport for London (TfL) this afternoon [Friday January 19].

Scores of London Taxis will descend on Aldwych today in anger at TfL's lack of action in dealing with serious issues facing drivers - such as a lack of infrastructure for electric cabs, delays due to increased congestion extending journeys and cost to passengers and removal of access to Bank junction.

The protest will take place at the following time and location:

Steve Garelick, GMB Professional Drivers' Branch, said:

'GMB is concerned about a lack of action byt Tfl on the real issues facing drivers.

'Tfl continues to live outside its own rules.

'Enforcement seems to be lop sided throughout the country and drivers - along with their families - are feeling the pinch.

'Unless there is real engagement with drivers, protest such as this will become ever more frequent.'
