2013-011

The Honourable Ted Menzies, Minister of State (Finance), today took part in a pre-budget roundtable in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, with community and business leaders. This consultation is part of a series of events in communities across the country aimed at engaging Canadians in discussions about their priorities and ideas for achieving the best use of taxpayers' dollars in the lead-up to the 2013 budget.

"Our Government's top priority is jobs, growth and long-term prosperity, and our objective is to return to balanced budgets before the end of this Parliament," said Minister Menzies. "We have made government spending more efficient and effective over the last few years, and we look forward to hearing what Canadians have to say about how we can continue to achieve the best use of taxpayers' dollars."

The Harper Government invites all Canadians to participate in pre-budget discussions through the Department of Finance website.
