Brazil's natural gas available to buyers was down by 5.6pc in December to 54.46mn m³/d (1.9 Bcf/d) compared with the same month last year, as the country directed more gas towards reinjection.

Available natural gas was down by 12pc compared to previous month's levels, according to preliminary data from Brazil's oil and gas regulator ANP.

Gas reinjection in December increased by 15pc from a year earlier, to 60.7mn m³/d, and was up by 5.7pc against the previous month.

Total Brazilian natural gas production was up 4.1pc on a yearly basis, and down 3.2pc on a monthly basis, at 132.2mn m³/d.

Flaring was up by 9pc compared to the December 2020, and down 12pc compared to November, at 3.32mn m³/d.

Gas consumption on production platforms was up by 6.6 pc yearly at 14.3mn m³/d, and up by 0.6pc from the prior month.
