ARLINGTON, VA - The Aluminum Association announced today the addition of two new member companies - Vulcan Inc. and Lethiguel Inc. Vulcan Inc. joins as a producer member - any firm that makes or fabricates aluminum - and Lethiguel Inc. joins as an associate member - any firm that supplies the industry with goods and services. The new additions bring the association membership total to 115 companies with 55 producers and 60 associates.
'We are excited to welcome Vulcan Inc. and Lethiguel Inc. as the newest members of the Aluminum Association,' said Heidi Brock, President & CEO of the Aluminum Association. '2017 was a busy and significant year for our industry, and it's important we continue to bring new voices to the table as we prepare for the opportunities ahead of us in 2018. Both Vulcan and Lethiguel will provide great insight as we continue to represent the full aluminum value chain.'
- Vulcan Inc.: Located in Foley, Alabama, is a Continuous Cast producer of 5000 series alloy aluminum coil and sheet used in a wide range of end use applications. Vulcan is an employee-owned company that includes five integrated manufacturing facilities: Vulcan Aluminum Mill, Vulcan Aluminum, Vulcan Metal Stampings, Vulcan Signs and Vulcan Utility Signs. Operating in South Alabama, Vulcan is strategically located to support customers throughout the U.S., Mexico and Eastern Canada.
- Lethiguel Inc.: Based in Lyon, France, Lethiguel SAS. is a worldwide industrial business leader in thermal solutions. The company at present has offices in France, Japan, Germany and Canada, which is responsible for sales and business development for the North American market.
The new members join during the seventh straight year of demand growth for the industry, with recent data from the Aluminum Statistical Review for 2016 showing aluminum demand in the U.S. and Canada totaled 26.4 billion pounds in 2016. However, statistics also show total imports spiked by nearly 33 percent in 2016 to a record 7.3 billion pounds. This uptick is being driven in large part due to aluminum overcapacity in China.
The Aluminum Association is committed to combatting unfair and unsustainable trade practices to ensure the continued health of the entire domestic aluminum value chain. Recent actions include the Commerce Department's self-initiated antidumping and countervailing duty investigations on common alloy aluminum sheet. As membership continues to grow, the association will continue to advocate for fair and free trade practices.
