Mr. Maruri is a co-founder of HCP, with over 30 years experience as a private equity investor, investment banker, financial advisor and capital markets specialist.
His experience encompasses strategic portfolio company management and a broad range of financial products expertise, including structuring and executing public and private equity transactions worldwide, designing and placing new mezzanine products, providing advisory services to private and publicly held companies, as well as capital raising for governments and agencies in over thirty countries.
Prior to co-founding HCP, Mr. Maruri worked at Banque Paribas (New York) from 1993 to 1999 as Regional Head for Latin America.
He also built the Bank’s investment-banking department for the region, eventually consolidating this unit with the commercial banking offices in Latin America.
In 1996, Mr. Maruri was appointed to the Board of Directors of Paribas North America.
From 1987 to 1993, Mr. Maruri worked at CS First Boston (London), where he became a Managing Director and member of the Managing Board of the UK subsidiary CS First Boston.
While at CS First Boston, he was in charge of private placements in Europe and investment banking for Spain and Portugal.
From 1983 to 1987, Mr. Maruri worked at JP Morgan (London) where he established a sales, trading and new issue team for money market products and improved JP Morgan’s ranking from 12th to 2nd in the Eurobond league tables.
From 1976 to 1983, Mr. Maruri worked at Chemical Bank where he managed an international portfolio of loans and securities for a Chemical Bank affiliate.
He started his career as an equity analyst monitoring the Chemical Bank’s Latin American equity investments.
Mr. Maruri earned a BS in economics from the University of Miami and pursued graduate studies in business administration at New York University.
He is a Board member of the New America Alliance.
