Voltalia has announced the start of construction of the Sarimay Solar solar power plant in Uzbekistan, scheduled for commissioning in the second half of 2025. With a capacity of 126 megawatts, it will avoid the emission of 116,000 tonnes of CO2 per year.

The power sales contract, with a term of at least 25 years, was won in 2022 in a call for tenders managed by IFC, a subsidiary of the World Bank. Voltalia has mandated the EBRD and JICA to finance the project.

On this occasion, Voltalia signed two new storage partnership agreements: the extension of the Sarimay complex with the addition of 50-megawatt batteries, and the creation of a new 500-megawatt battery complex.
