VimpelCom Ltd. (NasdaqGS:VIP) could sell more than 12,000 cellular towers for $800 million to infrastructure operator Russian Towers in January-March, Bloomberg reported late Monday citing sources familiar with the situation. Russian Towers, partially owned by Macquarie Group Limited (ASX:MQG), was chosen as a potential buyer, the sources said. Terms and conditions of the deal are being discussed and deliberated on.

Mass media earlier named several potential buyers, including Quippo Telecom Infrastructure Private Limited a unit of group Srei, as well as Russian Towers and its shareholders jointly with an investment arm of Goldman Sachs.
