Veidekke has been commissioned to build an environmentally certified office and
commercial building on the quayside promenade in Haugesund for Smedasundet
Sytti7 AS (Caiano AS). The building will be 8,500 square meters in size, of
which 6,000 square meters are offices. The contract is a design and build
contract valued at NOK 300 million excluding VAT.

"It can surely be called a milestone that we are now able to announce the full
start-up of construction work at Smedasundet 77 for one of our regular and most
loyal customers in Haugesund. The project, which we have developed over a long
period in partnership with Caiano, now satisfies the Directorate for Cultural
Heritage's requirements, including a copy of the old seafront building façade in
Smedasundet. Yet again, we appreciate the confidence Caiano has shown in us and
are looking forward to implementing a very attractive project," says district
manager Bendik Aarstad with Veidekke Bygg Rogaland.
Tenants DNB and Deloitte have already signed contracts for the office section.
Quality Hotel Maritim will run the canteen in the building during the day, a
restaurant in the premises in the evenings and the conference section with
foyer, seminar rooms and a 125-seat auditorium. The project will be BREEAM
certified as Very Good, which includes the reuse of some materials such as the
concrete from Lille Maritim that will be crushed and reused on site.
"We are pleased to sign yet another contract with Veidekke as we embark on a
construction project that will have great significance for the city, including
an extension of the quayside promenade. We have put a lot of effort into
creating a project to be proud of, and which is both attractive to the tenants
and good for Haugesund," says project manager Martin Laurhammer with Smedasundet
Sytti7 AS.
After the first tenants came on board this autumn, the necessary work in the sea
started quickly in the winter time slot before the spawning season starts. The
groundwork with demolition and piling work as well as the detailed design is
thus well underway already. Start of construction of the new building will now
follow, and everything is scheduled for completion in the new year of 2026..

This contract is included in Veidekke's order book for the first quarter 2024.
