UPM-Kymmene Oy : UPM Silvesta Oy’s employee consultations have been completed

(UPM Silvesta, Jyväskylä, 23 January 2012, at 13.30) - UPM Silvesta Oy's employee consultations to improve the efficiency of operations and the profitability of the company have been completed. The negotiations started in December 2011. Based on the consultations, the board of UPM Silvesta has decided to reduce the personnel by 69 employees. Many of these have the possibility to use different retirement schemes. 

After the reduction UPM Silvesta employs 132 forest workers and 15 office workers. The reduction of the personnel will start immediately. The company will support the re-empoyment of the laid-off personnel. 

"The decisions are hard, but necessary in improving UPM Silvesta's profitability and maintaining a good service level in the future," says Jukka Koivumäki, Managing Director of UPM Silvesta.

"Our aim is to expand our contractor network and train and develop our own personnel further in order to offer a wider range of services to forest owners and other parties needing different services related to forest work," says Koivumäki.
