Tutor Perini on Tuesday said its Perini Management Services unit was awarded a contract to stabilize and rehabilitate portions of the Alcatraz Island National Park in San Francisco.

The contract, valued at about $48.6 million, calls for Perini Management Services to address deterioration and structural deficiencies associated with the Alcatraz Main Prison Building, and includes both interior and exterior work. The scope of work includes abatement of hazardous materials in exterior walls and interior construction areas, repair of concrete spalls, replacement of deteriorated steel reinforcement, and installation of storm windows.

Work is expected to begin this month and to be substantially completed by summer of 2027, the company said.

In September, Perini Management Services was awarded a $47 million contract from the U.S. Interior Department for a new visitor center in Florida's Everglades National Park.
