The Business was incorporated in 1895 for the purpose of acquiring the premises known as Leyden Bastian and to develop this site to meet the burgeoning demand for high quality office accommodation during that time.
Within the span of time the company metamorphose by organic growth as well as through strategic acquisitions into a dynamic conglomerate with diverse interests in investment, chemical and paint, distribution, manufacturing, trading, food processing, motors, hotels & plantations.

The Colombo Fort Land & Building PLC is a Sri Lanka-based diversified conglomerate company, with diverse interests in real estate, investment, chemical and paint, distribution, manufacturing, food processing, motors hotels and plantations. The Company's segments include trading of consumer products, trading of industrial products, leisure, plantations and others. It is engaged in the manufacturing and marketing of chemicals, paints, hardware, building materials and packaging; manufacturing and marketing of consumer disposables, food and beverage products and marketing and distribution of pharmaceuticals; marketing of motor vehicles and accessories and providing vehicle maintenance services, and tourist hotels and inbound tour operations. The Company is involved in the production, processing and marketing of tea, rubber and desiccated coconut and cultivation and sale of palm oil; management of investment portfolios, and provision of management services.
