Subsea 7 S.A. announced the award of a sizeable(1) contract by Aker BP for the Kobra East Gekko (KEG) field development, located in the Alvheim area of the North Sea. The project involves a subsea tie-back of approximately 8 kilometres to the Alvheim FPSO, via the existing Kneler B subsea manifold. The contract scope includes engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) of the pipelines, spools, protection cover and tie-ins using key vessels from Subsea 7’s fleet. The production pipeline is a pipe-in-pipe design. Project management and engineering will commence immediately at Subsea 7’s offices in Stavanger, Norway. Fabrication of the pipelines will take place at Subsea 7’s spoolbase at Vigra, Norway and offshore operations are expected to take place in 2022 and 2023. Subsea 7 defines a sizeable contract as being between USD 50 million and USD 150 million.
