May 2013 sees 20th anniversary celebrations commence at Straight plc HQ in Leeds.

The environmental products and services group has witnessed significant growth over the past 20 years, from its humble beginnings of  one  man and a desk to becoming the UK's leading supplier of waste and recycling containers, manufacturing many of its own products and leading the field in delivering inventive, high-quality waste and recycling containers.

The 20th year of trading is an important milestone for Straight. This anniversary marks 20 years of making an actual, measurable impact on the environment through innovation that has transformed the recycling landscape of many council areas in the UK and beyond.

A fundamental part of Straight's success has been the ability to identify key industry trends and anticipate significant areas for improvement. This is where the Straight product development team come in.

Straight's 20th year in business coincides with the first batch of roll-outs of the pioneering 3BoxStack™ wheeled, multi box recycling system.

Conwy County Borough Council, the 'best recycler in Wales', is one of the first regions to commence dispatching the 3BoxStack™, dubbed the 'trolibocs' system by the Council, to up to 9,600 homes in the area are taking delivery of the new product..

The trial is the result of a 3 year partnership between Conwy's Recycling Team and Straight plc and is supported by the Welsh Government.

The project has progressed from drawing board to prototype to production and finally, to the doorstep.

Straight's 3BoxStack™ system comprises of three separate recycling containers which stack neatly into one easily manoeuvrable unit mounted on a secure and durable trolley. When stacked, the boxes are easily accessible through side apertures and take up a minimal amount of space. The trolley allows the unit to be effortlessly wheeled to the kerbside in a single journey, reducing the amount of lifting needed and increasing the likelihood of recycling participation, appealing to both end users and local authorities.

As with any business, the next 20 years of Straight plc will depend on the company's ability to predict and adapt to a changing environment. Past performance would indicate future success for Straight.
