On Friday, refrigerated food transport specialist Stef announced the inauguration of a 3,000 m2 extension to its Carvin site in the Nord Pas-de-Calais region.

In a press release, the logistics group explains that the project meets the growing development needs of its customers in the food industry, distribution, retail and out-of-home catering.

Located 20 minutes from Lille, with direct access to the A1 motorway, the Carvin site, commissioned in 2000, now boasts a surface area of 6,750 m2.

Every day, 650 tonnes of foodstuffs are delivered locally (Nord and Pas-de-Calais), as well as 700 tonnes of goods shipped to destinations in France and Europe.

In addition to transport and storage activities, its 270 employees prepare orders for all types of processed industrial food products (meat, dairy, fruit and vegetables, delicatessen).

Stef points out that 40% of the site's fleet runs on biofuel made from French rapeseed, representing 17 tractors/carriers in service.

The extension's roof has also been designed to eventually accommodate photovoltaic panels.
