Standard Chartered has tapped former JP Morgan private banker Raymond Cheng as chief investment officer (CIO), North Asia. Based in Hong Kong, he will report to Steve Brice, group CIO, and represent the CIO office's views to he bank's affluent clients. Brice, who is based in Singapore, will cover the rest of Asia.

Cheng was previously the head of Asia equity strategy at JP Morgan Private Bank where he was responsible for developing Asian equity views and themes as well as issuing security-specific recommendations. Prior to that, he was head of research at Bank of Communications, and Bank of China.
