SJVN Signs MoU for World's largest 4000 MW Ultra Mega Solar Power Project

Three Ministries of the Government of India namely Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE); Ministry of Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises (MHI&PE); and Ministry of Power (MoP), have joined hands to launch the world's largest 4000 MW Ultra Mega Solar Power Project in Sambhar, Rajasthan.

Six PSUs under these ministries, namely Bharat Heavy Industries Limited (BHEL), Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL);  Sambhar Salt Limited (SSL);  Rajasthan Electronics & Instrumentation Ltd. (REIL), Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI);  and SJVN Limited, have signed an MoU to develop and operate this 4000 MW Ultra Mega Solar Project in Sambhar area of Rajasthan. SJVN is one of the six joint venture partners having 16% equity participation in the proposed mega project.

CMDs of these six PSUs namely Shri R.P. Singh of SJVN, Shri B.P. Rao of BHEL; Shri R.N.Nayak of Powergrid; Shri A.K. Jain of REIL; Shri R.K. Tandon of Sambhar Salt Limited; and Shri Rajendra Ninje of Solar Energy Corporation were the joint signatories of this historic MoU signed at New Delhi today.   

The MoU was signed in the august presence of Shri Praful Patel, Hon'ble Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises and Dr. Farooq Abdullah, Hon'ble Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy at New Delhi. Dr Sutanu Behuria, Secretary Heavy Industries; Shri Pradeep Kumar Sinha, Secretary, Ministry of Power; and Shri Satish Balram Agnihotri, Secretary, Ministry of New & Renewable Energy, were also present of this occasion. Shri R.N. Misra, Director (Civil), Shri A.S. Bindra, Director (Finance), Shri N.L. Sharma, Director (Personnel), Shri R.K. Bansal, Director (Electrical) and Shri R.K. Agarwal, ED (BD&MS) of SJVN Limited also attended this MoU signing ceremony.

On the path of expansion and diversification, SJVN has already entered the field of Wind Energy with the development of 47.6 MW Khirvire Wind Power Project in Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra. 25 Wind Power turbines of the capacity of 850 KW each of this Project have already commenced power generation.

SJVN's 412 MW Rampur HE Project Limited in Himachal Pradesh is also ready to commence generation during the current financial year.  Located on river Satluj the Rampur Project is a 2nd stage development of upstream 1500 MW Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Station.  The project, having six vertical axis francis turbines of 68.67 MW each, will operate in tandem with the Company's flagship Nathpa Jhakri Power Station.   The 412 MW project will generate 1770 MU of electricity per annum which will be supplied to the northern grid states namely Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Chandigarh & Delhi
