IBM Connects "Internet of Things" to the Enterprise
Camarillo, California - March 31, 2015
IBM today announced that it will invest $3 billion over the next four years to establish a new Internet of Things (IoT) unit, and that it is building a cloud-based open platform designed to help clients and ecosystem partners build IoT solutions.
Included in the press release was IBM Research and Semtech's recent announcement of new technology based on low-power, wide-area networks that offers significant advantages over cellular networks and wifi for providing machine-to-machine (M2M) communications. IBM is a member of the LoRa™ Alliance, based on Semtech's LoRa™ RF Platform.
