Saudi Arabian Mining Company (Ma'aden) signed a supply agreement for diammonium phosphate (DAP) with the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation. The producer is planning to expand its capacity in the coming years with the start of DAP/MAP production at Ma'aden Wa'ad Al Shamal Phosphate Company, which is a joint venture between Ma'aden, SABIC and US producer Mosaic. The joint venture has already started producing ammonia, while its remaining plants, including DAP and monoammonium phosphate (MAP), are expected to start production in 2017, reaching a capacity of 2.9m tonnes/year of phosphate. The recently announced Ma'aden third phosphate project is expected to add a further 3m tonnes/year of production capacity by 2024.
