MEDIA RELEASE SATS NAMES ALEX HUNGATE AS NEXT CEO SINGAPORE, 13 March 2013 - The Board of Directors of SATS Ltd. (SATS) is pleased to announce that Mr Alexander Charles Hungate will succeed Mr Tan Chuan Lye as President and Chief Executive Officer (PCEO) when Mr Tan retires at the end of this year.

Mr Hungate will join SATS on 16 July 2013 as Executive Director in order to begin working closely with Mr Tan to prepare for the transition. He has been a Non-executive Director on the Board since July 2011.
Mr Hungate, 46, is currently HSBC Group General Manager and CEO Singapore. He has
25 years of global experience having held senior management positions including HSBC Group Managing Director Personal Financial Services, as well as at Reuters as its Managing Director Asia Pacific based in Hong Kong and Global Chief Marketing Officer based in New York.
On the appointment of Mr Hungate, Chairman Mr Edmund Cheng said, "In line with SATS' succession planning, the time is now right for leadership transition. Alex brings a depth of global financial, strategic and people development expertise that will benefit SATS as it continues to execute its strategy of growing both gateway services and food solutions businesses in Asia Pacific and the Middle East. I am confident that, with the support of everyone at SATS including the Board and Management, Alex will aptly steer the Group to achieve its long-term vision."
On 1 January 2014, Mr Hungate will take the helm as PCEO while Mr Tan will assume the new role of Executive Advisor to assist Mr Hungate with the ongoing operational transformation of the business.
Mr Tan was appointed as PCEO of SATS in April 2012. He was Acting CEO from July 2011 to
March 2012 while concurrently holding the position of Executive Vice President, Food Solutions.
Mr Tan said, "I have had the privilege of leading SATS for nearly two years. I enjoy working in this organisation tremendously, having been in-charge of both the gateway services and food solutions businesses. It has been a long but enriching journey for me and it is timely for me to hand over the reins to Alex."
The Board paid special tribute to Mr Tan who upon retirement will have recorded 36 years of service within the Group. Mr Cheng noted, "Chuan Lye has served the Group loyally and has contributed significantly in growing and transforming SATS to what it is today. During his tenure, he has played a pivotal role in aligning the Group's strategy and in championing its innovation
and productivity drive. On behalf of the Board and Management, I would like to extend our deep gratitude to Chuan Lye for his dedication and invaluable contributions to SATS. I am delighted that he has agreed to stay on and I am sure the Group will continue to benefit from his extensive expertise and experience in aviation."
