Rite Aid has named an interim chief in the wake of Heyward Donigan, president and CEO, leaving the drugstore brand.

Elizabeth Burr is now acting CEO as a search for a new chief executive is under way, according to a Wall Street Journal report.

Burr's previous roles include chief innovation officer at Humana Inc.

Donigan served as CEO for the past three years. The news outlet did not report the reason for Donigan's departure.
