Reinsurance Group of America Inc. announced that Anna Manning will retire from her CEO role December 31, 2023. The company's board plans to appoint Cheng as CEO effective January 1, 2024. Currently based in Hong Kong, Cheng is expected to relocate to St.

Louis by the end of this summer, according to a regulatory the regulatory filing. As president, he will continue to provide executive leadership to EMEA, Asia, and Australia. Prior to his current role as executive vice president and head of EMEA, Asia and Australia, Cheng spent seven years as executive vice president, head of Asia.

Last year, he assumed responsibility for the company's Australia and EMEA operations. Cheng joined RGA in 1997 as chief actuary of Malaysian Life Reinsurance Group Berhad, RGA's joint venture with the Life Insurance Association of Malaysia. In 2004, he was named CEO of RGA's Hong Kong office, overseeing all business in Hong Kong and Southeast Asia.

He was appointed in 2011 to the expanded role of senior vice president, Asia, incorporating overall management of RGA's Asia operations. Manning, 63 as of the company's April 2022 proxy statement, had been RGA's president since December 2015 and has served as CEO since January 2017, and she has been a company director since January 2016. Before she took on the president's role, in 2014 Manning was senior executive vice president of RGA's Structure Solutions unit, overseeing the company's Global Financial Solutions and Global Acquisitions businesses, as well as its Global Analytics and In-Force Optimization teams. Prior to that she was the company's executive vice president for U.S. markets for four years.

She joined RGA in 2007 as vice president and pricing actuary for its International Division, and shortly thereafter took on the post of executive vice president and chief operations officer for the International Division.
