WHO:
Families, individuals and first responders in need of personal care
items, cleaning products or laundry services in the wake of the
recent tornado in Mississippi.
WHAT:
The Tide Loads of Hope mobile laundry truck has been deployed to
support the relief efforts to those in impacted by the tornado in
Hattiesburg, Mississippi. The early-responder Tide Loads of Hope
mobile laundry vehicle, powered by Matthew 25: Ministries will
begin laundry services on Tuesday, January 24th,
providing free full-service laundry to residents in Mississippi
affected by the recent storms. Residents in the affected areas can
bring clothes (up to two loads per household) to the mobile unit
to be washed, dried and folded free of charge. All washable
clothing types can be accepted with the exception of heavy
bedding. In addition, P&G, in partnership with Matthew 25:
Ministries, will be providing personal care kits containing items
such as Secret deodorant, Crest toothpaste and Pantene shampoo as
well as household cleaning products like Bounty, Charmin and

WHY:
A damaging system of storms struck the south from Mississippi to the
Florida panhandle, and also making its way to parts of Alabama and
Georgia between January 21nd and 22nd. Dozens
of tornados devastated thousands of families and homes, leaving 20
dead as of Monday, January 23rd. Many more residents have
been forced from their homes, and are currently without basic needs.
P&G has a history of giving back to the communities where we live
and work, and we wanted to provide some everyday essentials to those
who need it most. These services are free and available to people
affected by the disaster and the volunteers who are helping to
respond.
WHERE:
The early-responder Tide Loads of Hope mobile laundry unit will be
located at:
Walmart Supercenter
5901 US 49
Hattiesburg, MS 39402
WHEN:
Beginning Tuesday, January 24th, up to 100 loads of
laundry per day (two loads per household) will be collected from 9
a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Walmart location.
ABOUT TIDE LOADS OF HOPE:
In 2005, P&G launched Tide Loads of Hope to provide much needed
laundry services to families affected by Hurricane Katrina. Since
that time, Tide Loads of Hope has washed more than 60,000 loads of
laundry for more than 45,000 families impacted by disasters around
the world. The early-responder Tide Loads of Hope mobile laundry
unit is outfitted with 12 high-efficiency Whirlpool Duet washers and
dryers (six of each) with the capacity to do up to 100 loads of
laundry a day.
