PostNL says it has taken several measures to prepare for the holidays. These include extra trucks, more delivery runs and an extra delivery day on Sunday, November 26.

The busiest period of the year in e-commerce traditionally begins with the arrival of St. Nicholas on Saturday, Nov. 18. Black Friday follows the week after that, with Cyber Monday three days later. Just over a week later comes St. Nicholas Eve. A peak that lasts more than two weeks and during which PostNL will deliver millions of packages.

Normally, PostNL delivers about 1.1 million packages a day. During the holiday season, this number will be considerably higher. Therefore, PostNL has already made various preparations during the year so that on peak days in November and December, PostNL will be ready to deliver about twice as many packages per day. Because parcel volumes were somewhat lower this summer, the road to peak days is steeper than usual.

On these peak days, some 1,250 trucks and 6,000 parcel buses are ready to transport the parcels. Furthermore, PostNL has asked online stores to start their Black Friday promotions early and thus deliver packages spread out over the week whenever possible.
