SMALL-CAP - WINNERS

Pharos Energy PLC, up 9.1% at 22.90 pence, 12-month range 18.05p-25.90p. The oil and gas exploration and production company appoints Katherine Roe as its new chief executive officer. Roe has over 20 years of senior corporate, industry and capital markets experience and most recently served as the CEO of Wentworth Resources PLC, having been appointed to that role in 2019 after initially serving as Wentworth's as Wentworth's chief financial officer. Chair John Martin said: "I am delighted to welcome Katherine to the board as CEO. Her experience managing Wentworth Resources and its business in Tanzania, engaging with key stakeholders in-country and eventually selling the company to Maurel et Prom, added significant value to Wentworth shareholders and will be of great value to us. I very much look forward to working with her and the rest of the team to take Pharos into its next strategic stage."

Porvair PLC, up 2.1% at 674.00 pence, 12-month range 522.00p-745.70p. The filtration technology company revenue in the year ended May 31 rose to GBP94.6 million from GBP90.6 million a year earlier. Pretax profit falls to GBP10.6 million from GBP11.2 million. Chief Executive Ben Stocks says: "2024 is unfolding as expected. Over the first six months, strength in aerospace and petrochemical markets, helped by the benefit of 2024 acquisitions, has offset weakness in industrial and laboratory consumables and foreign exchange headwinds. This has been in line with management expectations. The trading outlook for the second half of the year is positive."

Liontrust Asset Management PLC, down 0.2% at 684.00p, 12-month range 519.00p-865.00p. Peel Hunt cuts the asset manager to 'hold' from 'buy'.
