NEW YORK, NY - Pearson, the digital education company, today announced the appointment of Madhur Aggarwal to lead the company's digital business. Aggarwal joins Pearson on July 23 as senior vice president, digital channels and experience from SAP, where he was SVP and general manager of SAP Digital.

Aggarwal will report to Pearson's global head of corporate affairs and marketing and will lead a community of digital experts focused on driving and evangelizing the digital culture across Pearson, advancing the brand and driving digital revenue growth across the company's owned and operated channels. He will be responsible for leading the strategy and governance for digital marketing channels and online media, to drive a better return on investment and create the best possible digital experience for customers and consumers.

'This new role is key to accelerating Pearson's shift to digital,' said Kate James, global head of corporate affairs and marketing at Pearson. 'Madhur brings tremendous senior level expertise to Pearson and his talent and experience will be critical in helping us grow revenue and in driving Pearson's larger digital strategy and culture.'

This appointment complements the hiring earlier this month of Pearson's first head of artificial intelligence to lead the company's research and development work. These roles strengthen the company's digital capabilities and demonstrate Pearson's commitment to growing market share and revenue through digital transformation.

'Increasingly, the future of work requires a focus on lifelong learning - an ability to learn and re-learn over a career spanning decades. As work is changing, content, experience and channels need to come together across touchpoints and over life phases in a learner centric view,' said Aggarwal. 'In partnership with Pearson's leadership team, I am excited to accelerate the move to digital, further a digital-first mindset and ultimately help develop a consumer-grade experience for our customers and learners.'

Aggarwal brings to Pearson a history of successfully implementing market and customer centric initiatives with companies such as SAP, Oracle, Booz and HCL. Aggarwal has spent the past ten years at the software company SAP SE, in a number of leadership roles, ranging from General Management, to Corporate Marketing, and Competitive Strategy. Most recently, as SVP and general manager of SAP Digital, he was responsible for global P&L ownership for SAP-owned and third party e-commerce properties. He oversaw teams around the world, from Vancouver, Palo Alto, and New York, to Ireland, Germany, and Ukraine. Prior to this, he was global head of marketing strategy and a member of the CMO's leadership team. Before joining SAP, he spent nearly a decade in strategy and technology consulting roles at Booz & Co, and Oracle.

In conjunction with his business success, Madhur is passionate about giving back and mentoring young people. He is an Advisory Board member at Columbia Business School Center for Brand Leadership, mentor at The CMO Club, an active member of the New York technology community and a frequent speaker at international conferences and business schools.

Aggarwal was born in India, to a family of scientists and professors. He holds an MBA from Wharton at the University of Pennsylvania, a Master's in Information Management from Arizona State University and an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Delhi College of Engineering. He lives in Princeton, New Jersey with his wife and two boys.
