Announcement on Providing Inspection Service for a New Insurance Program for Photovoltaic Power PlantsNPC Incorporated is pleased to announce that we have co‐ developed with Aon Japan, Ltd. (headquarters: Chiyoda‐ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Tatsuya Yamamoto, "Aon Japan") and TÜV Rheinland Japan Ltd. (headquarters: Yokohama‐shi, Kanagawa; President & CEO: Tobias Schweinfurter, "TÜV") an industry‐first insurance program to partially back up output guarantee by photovoltaic (PV) panel manufacturers according to the inspection results of the existing PV power plants. The service will be provided from February, 2017 and major Japanese general insurance companies will provide coverage.
In the new program, we will support steady operation of PV power generating business by;
providing the present performance and safety evaluation of PV panels and on‐site inspection services
covering the output through insurance according to the inspection results of (1) in case no guarantee is provided by panel manufacturers. The Company will be in charge of on‐site inspection of (1). Setting the output data measured by TÜV at its inspection facilities beforehand as standard, the Company will measure the output of all the strings on site and perform simplified evaluation of the entire PV power plant including mounting systems and connection boxes. Then the PV panels will be sorted out according to the inspection results and suitable insurance conditions will be applied. There will be options available such as forecasts of degradation by aging and future safety through long‐term reliability/safety inspections or analysis/evaluation of PV panel major components to reflect them onto the insurance conditions, regular inspection services to understand changes of output, and more.
The Company will contribute to maintenance and management of the asset value of PV power plants, such as support for securing IRR of PV power plants and appropriate evaluation standards of PV power plants secondary market by utilizing its inspection technologies and implementing inspections of the insurance program.
