On Tuesday, Nokia announced that it had signed a memorandum of understanding with the Export-Import Bank in the United States.

Under the terms of the partnership, the Finnish telecoms equipment manufacturer will become eligible for financing from the bank, which specializes in import credit, in particular to support its investments in 5G.

In return, Nokia has pledged to step up its investments, strengthen its production capacity and protect jobs in the United States, where the group has a strong presence.

Last year, Nokia became the first group in the sector whose broadband infrastructure products had been deemed compliant with the provisions of the "Buy America" Act, which restricts access to US government contracts for foreign companies.

This time, it becomes the first technology group to sign an agreement with the Export-Import Bank.
