'Over the past few years, something special has been going on at Atlético de Madrid,' says Pete Hoppins, Nike Football Apparel Senior Design Director. 'It's a club that has shown what you can achieve when the fans, coaches and players are all totally committed and move together as one. We really wanted to celebrate this unique energy with their new home kit.'
The passion of the Atlético fans is world famous, and is a key factor behind the stunning recent achievements - both in domestic and continental competition. The union of team and supporters is articulated in the new home kit through a joining of the club's traditional red and white stripes with a blue pattern rising up from the hemline.
