NEC Corporation announced that it will reorganize its domestic manufacturing sites based on its commitment to reinforcing the hardware development and production system determined in February 2014, and on July 1, 2014, it will start a new company, NEC Platforms Ltd. The company will be established by merging NEC Infrontia Corporation and NEC Infrontia Tohoku Corporation, which develop, produce and distribute Key Telephone Systems/IP-PBX, POS terminals, etc., NEC Access Technica Ltd., which develops and produces broadband routers, in-vehicle equipment, etc., and NEC Computertechno Ltd., which develops and produces servers, storage, etc. At the same time, the tape storage development and production division of NEC Embedded Products Ltd. will be transferred to the new company. This reorganization aims to create globally competitive products through integration and mutual utilization of the technologies that represent the strengths of each of the sites, such as development technologies of computers, communication and structural design (energy-saving, waterproofing, dust-proofing, etc.), and production technologies including modularization, high-density packaging and resin molding. Moreover, the new company will work on improving QCD through sharing of expertise in areas such as quality control and through unification of procurement contacts. With approximately 5,100 employees, the new company will be a manufacturing site that undertakes the entire process of development and production of computer equipment, communication equipment, terminals and embedded equipment. NEC will position it as a core hardware development and production company that supports the growth strategy centered on its Solutions for Society project, and will strive to create customer value by taking advantage of the innovative power of technology and production from a manufacturing standpoint.

Takemi Hosaka (current director and member of the board of NEC Infrontia Corporation) will assume the position of president and CEO of the new company.
